Can someone tell me how to use pocketiso 3.2?
Since Fpsece 0.1 is releasing really soon, I am preparing some PS game Iso for playing. When I use pocketiso 3.2, a lot of options seem to be unfamiliar to me For the optimal performance, which of the boxes should be ticked?

Re: Can someone tell me how to use pocketiso 3.2?
Hi there! The buttons that you selected are for ripping certain files, I believe. "All" is self-explanatory - rip all media files. "Vid" - Rip video files (cutscenes). "XAS" - Rip XA Streams (music and SFX). "Not" - Rip nothing. I have not used the other options (the ones to the right) much, but I believe I know what some of them do. "FF8 Search method" - I assume FFVIII does something differently to most games, and thus, enabling this option will improve it. It should also improve other games that use the same function (don't know what they are though). "Smallest video source" - probably to do with video compression, I would say, with "Enhanced Movie Detection" doing what it says on the tin. "Rip XA Streams to mp3" and "Rip Audio Tracks to mp3", are supposed to improve performance, and allow the sound to play without stuttering. I expect "Enhanced XA Detection" again, is pretty obvious. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Can someone tell me how to use pocketiso 3.2?
-FF8 search method: only for FF8 -smallest video source: use it only of you neef to have a small rom, I advise not using it -enhanced movie detection: use it if you want to rip video and have a smaller iso -enhanced XA detection: always enable it!
10%: I advise not using it, or only if you absolutly want to rip video and are experiencing crashes when ripping vids without this option enabled
Here is my personal short tutorial:
I would advise not doing anything to the videos, excepted if you have few memory in your device and need small compressed iso, so in a first part I will explain how to use pocketIso without ripping the videos, and in a second one, I'll explain the video ripping options.
1) How to use pocketIso without compressing or doing anything to the video (that's what I usually do) -Select your iso (or bin or img) -Select "enhanced XA detection" -analyse your iso => if the analysis shows XA strams, select "rip XAstreams to MP3" and click on "XAS" => if it finds audio tracks, select "rip audio tracks to MP3" -compression method: most of the time, I use "normal compression" You can click on "process iso"
2) video ripping options: I repeat that it may be better to keep the complete video, but many can be ripped and thus result in a low-size working iso -before analysing the iso, select "enhanced movie detection" -selecting "smallest video source" will replace every vid by the smallest of the game, if my memory is good(not sure about that point!), and so avoid some crashes that may occure if all the videos are removed from the game. I advise not using it -Analyse your iso, it will show you (beside the XAstreams or audio tracks) every video stream -click on "VID" to select every video, or you can select them individually, for example only the bigger ones -if my memory is good, selecting 10% will keep 10% of the original vid and so avoid bugs that my happen in some game. Try it only if you have difficulties with a game having video compressed. -prcess your iso
Compressing XAstreams (when there are some found in the game! ) is very important to have a perfect sound and gain some Fps Same for audiotracks.
Compressing videos is just a question of size of your resulting compressed iso, not a question of performances (and it may bring problems on some games....but sometimes you can have a perfectly working iso of 40Mb only for a full 3d games with every video removed! I have test drive 4 or wipeout 1 under 100Mo for example)

Re: Can someone tell me how to use pocketiso 3.2?
Great guide, but if you don't mind my asking, what if PocketISO errors out, mid-compression?
1) I select my ISO (Street Fighter Alpha 3) 2) I check "Enhanced XA Detection 3) I click "Analyse ISO" 4) I check "Rip Xa Streams to MP3" 5) I click XAS 6) I click "Process ISO"
Then it gets about half-way done with processing and closes the program with an error telling me "PocketISO.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."
What should I do about this? I don't believe it is a bad rom, because I can play it uncompressed. Is it possibly due to the attempt of ripping the XA to MP3?
EDIT: Ok, it was NOT due to trying to rip XA Streams to MP3, PocketISO continues to error out. Any ideas on the matter?
EDIT2: VERY interesting... PocketISO V2.2 has no problem whatsoever compressing the image and it plays fine. Hmmm, the plot thickens. I wonder why V2.2 can do it yet the supposedly new and improved V3.2 can not.

What version of Windows? Have you tried it on a different PC?

Re: Can someone tell me how to use pocketiso 3.2?
It might happen on some games strangely mixing XAstreams and other sounds, or having an incredible amount of XAstreams
It doesn't crash on 2.2 because 2.2 doesn't really do the complete job and crashes when 3.2 tries to seriously compress everything and remove the uncompressed tracks
