Is there any way to change a game's license?

I have an English patched ROM for the first King's Field (Japanese), but for some reason, this game shows as "no license" when viewing its details, as well as its save states. This issue is present in both the original FPse, and FPse64.
I have other English patched Japanese games that display their licenses just fine (e.g. Front Mission 2). When I long press the game's icon on FPse and click license, it simply brings up game details (which say "no info"), and there doesn't seem to be any way to change its license code.
Is there any way to change its license code to what it should be? This is the only game I'm having issues with, out of about 100 I have tried on FPse. Its license code should be SLPS-00017 (at least when viewing a save I created on the memory card through MemcardRex).
