Crackling noise problem

Hi,

Really enjoy using this emulator - it's almost perfect. However I'm experiencing some sound crackling problems that didn't occur in my previous version. In Symphony Of The Night, the sound starts crackling constantly mid way into the music (most notably in the caves). I think it is to do with turning on audio sync because it doesn't occur when this is off (but then get audio skips instead). I'm using an Xperia Play - I'm wondering if this is a bug that needs to be fixed or if there's anything I can do about it in the options. Thanks.

Hi this problem still occurs even if go back to the video menu. Only occurs with Audi sync on but I get skipping if it's turned off. Is it possible to revert back to an older version of FPSE? It used to work fine a few versions ago. Thanks.

Maybe audio latency is too low

Try to exit game and change latency value. By default it 120 if I remember. Growing this value should fix your problem

Tried putting latency up as far as 400 but still seems to occur. So far it only seems to happen on Symphony Of The Night but it's also the only title I have that doesn't use CD audio. The music starts off normally then starts to crackle after about a minute - perhaps when music starts to repeat?

From what region is your game?

Go to system menu when game is loaded and select fast CD-ROM reading .

Does it fix?

Yes this fixes it - thank you! Don't think I'd have ever figured that out.

Since on the subject of Symphony Of The Night, noticed a few little things like the Cthulu enemy changing to a black box when killed and the game over screen causing a bit of slow down - obviously this doesn't matter to me as long as game plays well, but thought would point them out incase these are things you like to iron out. Keep up the good work, wish someone would put similar effort into a Sega Mega CD android emulator.
