Memory card for saves?

Postby molitar » Thu Jan 05, 2012 7:14 am

Ok I copied the memcard1 and 2 to a folder on my SDCARD but when I go to save game it acts like their is no memory card so can not save the game. How do I get this to see the memcard file?

Try going to the system menu, and changing the memory card path to where you copied them to. It's an option near the bottom of the system menu.

I did that.. I copied it to the /mnt/sdcard/fpsebackup/memcards/slot1.mcd and /slot2.mcd but the memory cards do not show as something to be saved.. After getting into the bios (How do I get into bios I got into it by accident) I could see memcard 1 and memcard 2 column with another column to delete and copy but again nothing to copy or delete. So that would make me think the emulator is not seeing the memcards at all since their was nothing I could do with them.

Ok I'm finding it difficult to understand what you're explaining.

I would suggest uninstalling fpse, and clearing the application data in the Manage Programs settings in Android.
Re-install. Then try again.

Just a note, if you haven't already you NEED to set a BIOS for saving to function properly.

If you're still having problems after this, come back and tell me exactly what you did.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

1. I went into system settings and pointed the bios to the /sdcard/fpse/bios/scph1001.bin
2. I unchecked HLE mode
3. I enabled Dualcore boost
4. I enabled Thread priority
5. I copied slot1.mcd and slot2.mcd to /sdcard/fpse/memorycards/
6. I changed path location to /sdcard/fpse/memcards/slot1.mcd and /slot2.mcd
7. I changed sstates path to /sdcard/fpse/sstates/
8. Saved as default config
9. EJECT and select a directory without an ISO
10. Restart
11. BIOS > Memory Cards > No save slots show for memory card 1 or memory card 2

This indicates memory cards are not being seen or working.

Why are you changing the path location for the memory cards anyway? Does it work if you leave it as default?

Then I don't know.

Clear the data again, make sure the BIOS is set and try again. Check save states and saving on the memory card. If that doesn't work it just doesn't make sense.

Ok it will try to load from the card but than reports nothing saved on it.. but the save feature is grayed out. I even tried chrono trigger to see if it was something with Chrono Cross and saving games... but still not able to save. The save does not see the card it appears. And I know it got wiped this time because I used Titanium Backup to remove it so it was 100% removed.. nothing left than an install.

I checked the FPSE Log and it does not show anything strange.

But for the life of me it appears not to be seeing the slot1.mcd or slot2.mcd as memory cards. I even checked permissions to make sure they have full read/write permissions and they do.

Ok I took a game save slot1.mcd and dropped it in to the memcard folder from the forum topic http://www.fpsece.net/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=213 and after loading that game save I can now save games.. but still refused me to create a new game than save. Seems to be a bug with new games in general it works with games that are previously saved. I can even manage the memory cards in the bios emulator portion now. So why can I not start a new game and create a save so I can play and save games?

Phaedrus, thanks for trying to help me on this one. After I loaded that save I looked at the log file again and noticed an error with being able to access ct.ini in the cfg folder. I edited permissions for this folder and file and now it's allowing me to save and load properly. It appears the issue was for some reason that particular folder did not have correct permissions and now I can save at the save points and world map properly and the memcard is being seen. It's also working for Chrono Trigger I tried as a test game also. Curious why loading someone else's save made the log file report a problem with the accessing of ct.ini file but a new game start did not though.
