There's no need for this. I checked it and in my case the black bar is minimal, practically unnoticeable. But there really is a slight bar.

Sorry Schtruck, been working alot lately.
When I clear FPse out of my recent apps, reopen and exit again, a green box will apppear around another app that's on my home screen.
I'll walk you through the steps.
1. Launch FPse
2. Exit using the
back arrow button or the
home button and you should now be on the home screen.
3. Open your
Recent Apps and remove FPse.
4. Open FPse again and exit using the
back arrow or
home button.
Now there will be a green box around the first app that's on the homescreen you launched FPse from.
When I exit Fpse in landscape mode, without clearing FPse from my
Recent Apps. My homescreen will automatically scroll over to the side and i'll still get a green box.

wow no idea about this green problem...
Btw i addressed the White polygon problem , you will perhaps notice a very quick black polygon frame and that's all, texture will comeback immediatly. (time to refresh textures destroyed by garbage collector)
I update beta, i need to have feedback on this fix

It could be an issue of your launcher and not fpse. Can you try with another launcher ?

I've tried Nova Launcher and now I get a white box, but the good news is, the screen doesn't scroll over when exiting in landscape mode. When I get a chance, i'll return my phone back to stock and see if it happens again.
