Metal Gear Solid cd change

Unable to switch from disk 1 to disk 2. When i open the menu and click change disk im able to pick the second disk but then the screen goes black. Im loading from the memory card and not a save state. I CAN switch from disk two to disc one so i know fpse change cd function works.....just not sure why i cant switch from disc one to disc two.

Just regular metal gear solid.
Slus 00594 for disc 1
Slus 00776 for disc 2
Love your control layout by the way
